The Standard Shower

Engineering perfection for uniform water saturation.

Premium Material

Problem: Generic meshes can corrode, warp under pump pressure, and impart metallic off-flavors to the water.

The IMS solution: We manufacture using only certified food-grade AISI 304 stainless steel, ensuring absolute neutrality and strength.

The result: A highly durable screen that maintains its shape and hygienic safety through years of service.

Water Dispersion

Problem: Uneven hole patterns create aggressive water jets that bore holes into the coffee puck (channeling).

The IMS solution: Carefully calculated perforation patterns designed to break the water pressure into a gentle, uniform shower.

The result: Perfect pre-infusion and even saturation of the coffee bed, leading to a balanced extraction.

IMS Standard Shower Structure

Structural Design

Problem: Multi-layer wire meshes trap coffee oils and scale, becoming impossible to clean fully and causing blockages.

The IMS solution: A solid body construction or integrated membrane design that eliminates overlapping layers where dirt hides.

The result: A screen that is incredibly easy to backflush and wipe clean, ensuring every shot tastes fresh.

Burr-Free Perforation

Problem: Mechanical punching leaves sharp burrs inside the holes that restrict flow and snag coffee grounds.

The IMS solution: Our re-laminating process flattens the metal after punching, removing burrs and hardening the area.

The result: Smooth, unobstructed water passage and a highly durable shower screen.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

Everything you need to know about IMS shower screen technology.

In a commercial environment, we recommend replacing the shower screen every 6 to 12 months, depending on the volume of coffee served and the frequency of backflushing. Even with regular cleaning, micro-deposits can alter water flow over time.

Traditional wire mesh screens consist of overlapping metal wires that trap coffee oils and scale, making them hard to clean and prone to uneven flow. IMS standard screens use rigid steel with precise perforations, ensuring a uniform shower effect and a much longer, cleaner lifespan.

While channeling can also be caused by puck preparation, a bad shower screen that shoots aggressive jets of water will absolutely cause it. An IMS shower distributes water gently and evenly across the whole puck, mitigating the primary mechanical cause of channeling.

We manufacture standard shower screens for almost every commercial group head on the market, including E61, La Marzocco, Nuova Simonelli, and many others. Check our Compatibility Tool to find the exact model for your machine.

Yes! While IMS screens are much easier to clean and trap less residue due to their smooth surface, regular backflushing with an appropriate detergent is still essential to maintain optimal performance and hygiene in your espresso machine.

MOCA certification ensures that our products are made with materials and processes that are completely safe for food contact, complying with strict European regulations.
