Ascaso machines are celebrated for their incredible thermoblock efficiency and modern design. Upgrading to IMS precision filters maximizes this potential, providing perfectly uniform water distribution to extract the sweetest and most complex notes from your beans.
It depends on your model. Older versions of the Ascaso Dream and Basic use a 57mm group head. The newer PID versions (Dream PID, Steel UNO/DUO PID, Baby T) use a standard commercial 58mm group. Please verify your machine's exact model generation and select the corresponding tamper diameter (57mm or 58/58.4mm) in our configurator above to find the right basket.
Yes. Ascaso's thermoblock systems push water powerfully into the group head. Using an IMS Puck Screen (like the DS58.5 for PID models) acts as a buffer, ensuring the pressurized water hits the coffee bed softly and evenly. This eliminates channeling and keeps your group head completely free of coffee grounds.
Compatibility varies heavily by model. For instance, the Ascaso Baby is compatible with the E6100IM series. However, models like the Steel and Dream often use proprietary shower block designs that do not fit standard IMS screens. Select "Shower screen" and your specific model in the tool above to see if a compatible screen is available.
Absolutely. Upgrading to an IMS precision basket is highly recommended when using a bottomless portafilter. The perfectly uniform laser-cut holes will help the espresso converge into a single, beautiful stream, giving you direct visual feedback on the quality of your puck prep.
