Conical Cross Section

The I.M.S. exclusive and patented perforation technology guarantees a circular hole with a cone-shaped (non-pyramidal) cross section. The inner surface of the cone is perfectly polished. As there are no edges or burrs, coffee oils and liquid slide out freely without any obstruction.

  • Diameter Range: The diameter of the hole varies from 0.25 mm to 0.40 mm.
  • The 0.30 mm Equilibrium: This specific diameter enables the perfect balance—blocking substances that must not pass through, while extracting a full-bodied, creamy espresso rich in aromatic overtones.

Burr Removal and Re-lamination

Burr Removal by Re-laminating

Traditional punching leaves sharp edges and metal burrs inside the holes, which snag coffee and cause clogging. IMS solves this with an exclusive mechanical process.

Re-laminating is an operation that accounts for the complete removal of perforation burrs and, at the same time, the work-hardening of the perforation area, rendering it vastly more resistant to pump pressure.

It is achieved by subjecting the perforated area to a massive pressure of 200 tons.
