From the legendary Silvia to the robust commercial Classe series, Rancilio machines are built like tanks. However, upgrading your group head with IMS precision components is often considered the most crucial modification. It tames the aggressive water flow common in stock machines, leading to significantly smoother and sweeter extractions.

The Rancilio Silvia, Silvia Pro X, and all their commercial models use a standard commercial 58mm group head. Our 58mm precision baskets (identifiable by the B70 product code) are a perfect drop-in fit for your original portafilter.

Absolutely. The stock Rancilio group head is known to have a rather forceful water delivery, which can easily cause channeling in the coffee puck. Upgrading to an IMS precision shower screen significantly softens the water impact, providing a gentle and even rainfall that vastly improves extraction quality.

For the best results, we highly recommend using a precision tamper sized between 58.4mm and 58.5mm. This ensures a tight seal against the straight walls of our baskets, maximizing the surface area of the coffee puck during extraction.

Yes! Because Rancilio machines often have strong pump pressure, placing an IMS 58.5mm Puck Screen on top of your coffee bed is highly beneficial. It protects the puck integrity from the initial water blast and keeps your shower screen virtually spotless, reducing the need for frequent backflushing.
