Gaggia machines, particularly the Classic series, are the perfect canvas for performance upgrades. Replacing factory parts with IMS precision components eliminates the common issue of uneven water distribution and channeling, allowing you to pull professional-grade shots at home.
The Gaggia Classic Pro (and the newer EVO) uses the GA series shower screens. Our GA200IM (Integrated Membrane) or GA200NT (Nanotech coated) are the gold standard upgrades. They replace the stock mesh and dispersion plate to provide a significantly more uniform water flow across the coffee puck.
Yes, most IMS B70 series precision baskets fit the standard 58mm Gaggia portafilter. However, for the best experience—and to accommodate larger baskets like the H26 or H28—many Gaggia users upgrade to a bottomless (naked) portafilter. This also allows you to visually diagnose your extraction and see the benefits of the IMS precision holes.
Domestic models like the Gaggia Viva, Carezza, and Gran Gaggia often use a smaller 53mm group head. While these are typically pressurized systems, you can find compatible 53mm IMS precision filters (shared with Saeco/Starbucks Barista models) to convert your machine into a professional "unpressurized" setup.
Using an IMS 58.5mm Puck Screen (DS58.5) is highly recommended for Gaggia machines. It acts as a secondary dispersion screen that ensures the water hits the puck with maximum gentleness. Furthermore, it keeps your shower screen perfectly clean by preventing coffee grounds from being sucked back into the 3-way solenoid valve during pressure release.
